A chaotic, frontstabbing OSR fantasy brawler where everything goes wrong - on purpose. Trip, swing, and fumble through a world that hits back.

"Unfair. Unbalanced. Unhinged."

"Mausritter meets Dungeon Crawl Classics!"

Get dropped into a world of low hit points, bad odds, moody miracles, twitchy spells, doomed equipment and chaotic brawls that keep escalating for no good reason.

Unless you do have a reason? Do you have a reason?

By nightfall, the taverns will run on lore, laughter and ale to decide on whether you were brilliant or just running in the wrong direction convincingly.

What is FLAIL

FLAIL is a fast, scrappy OSR brawler where spells act up, weapons fall apart, and characters survive mostly through nerve, luck, or whatever they grabbed on the way in. Hit points are low, danger stays high, and plans rarely make it past the second roll. It’s classic fantasy chaos with a slightly unhinged grin.

Created by Andre Novoa, FLAIL is developed and published by Games Omnivorous. Uses a tactile item-and-gear system that makes inventory management actually interesting, and a push-your-luck combat system that feels like a game of dice poker. Quick to learn, quicker to implode, ideal for hexcrawls, dungeons, and players who enjoy seeing what goes wrong first.

"He tried to bless us, and the God showed up to ask why." – player

  • BARD

Music is a mysterious craft – none can predict how the audience will react.

  • BONE WHISPERER

Talks to bones and suddenly there’s a crowd of skeletons expecting leadership.

  • CLERIC

Iconoclasts say worship is just bribery with incense - but is it? Clerics tend to disagree.

  • CUTTHROAT

More often than not they realise that treasure has very strong opinions about ownership.

  • DRUID

The boundary between person and beast has always been thin.

  • TINKERER

If it sparks, whirs or explodes, it’s probably working. Or so says the Tinkerer.

  • WARRIOR

Violence comes in many forms and styles, though subtlety is rarely one of them these days.

  • WIZARD

Every great wizard starts as someone’s terrible apprentice.

"This game is pitch perfect for people who like single-session dungeons and short campaigns of 10~15 sessions."

Poker Dice Combat

Pick up a handful of d6s as dictated by your skills and gear. Roll them. On a 1, deal weapon damage. On two 1s, deal double weapon damage. On three 1s, simply slay your target outright!

Classes and special gear unlock further bonuses when rolling triplets, pairs, full-houses, and sequences.

Physical Inventory Cards

FLAIL comes with several item sheets, including class-specific items, common gear, weapons, unique items, legendary items and set items. Over 200 items.

Push Your Luck Magic

Spells are affected by the number of d6s used to cast and their combined sum. Roll high for spectacular results, but each six rolled comes with consequences. Possibly death.

A Great Game Needs Great Art

Incredible pieces by Stefan Poag, Justin McElroy, Vault Crawler, Diogo Barros and Brian Profilio (drummer of the Budos Band).

  • Tomb of 1,000 Gears

A deadly clockwork dungeon rife with clever traps, deadly automata, and mad puzzles. Adventurers will have to use their wits more than their swords to survive, or be crushed beneath the legacy of a paranoid gnome inventor.

  • Best Served Cold

An assassin guild’s corpse-laundering scheme collapses into horror when a cursed lantern awakens their frozen dead, leaving an entire city block sealed, silent, and crawling with vengeful undead and ill-gotten treasure.
